What types of great paying jobs are available in Akron and Canton?
Whether you are a college student looking for part-time or temporary work that is close to Kent State or The University of Akron, or you are looking for full-time work; we have a wide variety of job opportunities.
Below is more information about the work duties and general job descriptions of just a few of the types of job placements that RC Staff receives everyday:
Compounder:
If you have a knack for measurements and a keen eye, working as a compounder is a great option for you. You may work to complete orders by measuring, mixing, and packaging rubber/chemical compounds for top manufacturers in the region. You could also potentially work with one of Akron Ohio’s leading polymer or plastics companies. Akron has a long history in rubber manufacturing. The Polymer Institute at the University of Akron helped launch many advancements and innovative manufacturers throughout Northeast Ohio. These jobs are often physical and require the ability to lift 50 pounds routinely.
Machine Operator:
Working as a machine operator encompasses a wide variety of jobs and duties, and will often vary from employer to employer. Generally, a machine operator will work with their assigned machine or a number of different machines to ensure that they’re properly set up, functioning well, and consistently producing a quality product. Additionally, operators are responsible for making sure their machine is stocked with the necessary materials for production. Oftentimes, prior manufacturing/warehouse experience is preferred for non entry-level positions.
Warehouse:
Within a warehouse, many different specialized positions need to be filled to keep the operation running smoothly. Jobs such as a Material Handler, Picker/Packer, General Labor Warehouse Associate, Forklift Driver, and a Shipping/Receiving Clerk are just a few of the positions. These jobs tend to be physical, so the ability to routinely lift at least 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time are often requirements.
Tow-Motor (Forklift) Operator:
Operating a forklift in a production environment is no joke! You’ll be responsible for transporting equipment and materials, unloading/loading shipments, making sure that loads are secure, and maintaining the forklift that you operate.
